Berrettini wins seventh in a row to reach Queens semis

Defending champion and 2021 Wimbledon runner-up Berrettini will meet Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp for a place in the final

Italy’s Matteo Berrettini remained unbeaten on grass as he won his seventh match in a row on Friday to advance to the semi-finals of the ATP Queen’s Club event on Friday.

The world No 10 returned from a three-month injury lay-off last week and went on to win the title in Stuttgart. on Friday, he defeated American Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-2 to maintain his perfect record since his comeback.

Berrettini, who won the title here in 2021, converted four of nine break point chances he earned and lost his own serve only once during the one hour and 13 minute contest.

He will next meet Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp for a place in the final. Van De Zandschulp scored a 6-2, 6-4 win over Davidovich Fokina earlier in the day.

The two players have met once before on the tour, with Berrettini beating the Dutchman in straight sets in the second round of Wimbledon in 2021.
