The French Tennis Federation walked back a previous decision of letting fans in the Bercy Arena for the final ATP Masters 1000 event of the year due to coronavirus concerns.

France has seen another uptick in COVID-19 cases as the nation saw a peak of 52,010 new cases on October 25. The latest data from the New York Times saw 36,437 new cases on October 27, with an average of 39,673 new cases in the past seven days.

The decision was preceded by a second lockdown announced by President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday. The lockdown will start on Friday, October 30 and lasting until December 1.

The original plan of the French Tennis Federation was to allow 1,000 fans into the day session from November 2 to 8 — same number as Roland-Garros — and none at night. Fans will be refunded for their purchased tickets.
