Coach Delgado splits with Andy Murray, linked to Shapovalov
The former world No 1 is switching up his coaching arrangements ahead of 2022
Sir Andy Murray has split with his coach Jamie Delgado – who has been rumoured to be joining Denis Shapovalov’s team.
Delgado had been working with the former world No 1 since his glory year of 2016, when he won Wimbledon and finished the year on top of the rankings.
He stepped into Ivan Lendl’s shoes when he left the position of Murray’s head coach in 2017.
Murray is now giving a trial to German Jan de Witt, who has previously coached Gael Monfils, Gilles Simon and Nikoloz Basilashvili, and the two worked together at Britain’s National Tennis Centre this week.
Murray had also spent some time recently working with Esteban Carril, the former coach of Johanna Konta, but that arrangement will not be continuing.
The 34-year-old – currently ranked 134th in the world – will next be playing the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, followed by the Battle of the Brits exhibition in Aberdeen.
