Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 8 seed, won against American Steve Johnson 7-6 (6), 6-2 to reach the second round of the Dallas Open at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
Mannarino, ranked No 63, will face Australian Jordan Thompson next.
