World No 1 Novak Djokovic will not participate in the ATP Cup starting 1st of January in Sydney, Serbian media outlet Blic reported on Saturday.

“Novak won’t play the ATP Cup 99%. He is practicing here (in Belgrade), but he had decided to skip that competition“, Blic quoted an anonymous source close to Djokovic.

Djokovic finished his season very late, reaching the Davis Cup semifinals with Serbia. Since then, he has been in Serbia – on mountain Kopaonik, and then in Belgrade, where he has been practicing and attending numerous events.

It remains to be seen whether Djokovic, who has not revealed his vaccination status, will contend for his 10th Australian Open title in Melbourne, starting 17th of January.

Serbia’s team for the ATP Cup will consist of Filip Krajinovic, Ducan Lajovic, Matej Sabanov, Nikola Cacic and Nikola Milojevic.
