Doubles partnerships are based on chemistry and if this week has been anything to go by, the odd pairing of John Isner and Diego Schwartzman has plenty of that.

The partnership between one of the tallest and one of the shortest players on the ATP Tour has wowed the crowds this week not only with their unique pairing but also their tennis.

On Saturday, the duo, dubbed as ‘Isnerman’, defeated Andrey Gobulev and Maximo Gonzalez 6-4,4-6, 11-9 to reach the final of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome.

Isner is aiming for his third doubles title of 2022 while Schwartzman is looking for his first

The 6ft 10 inch Isner and the 5ft 7 inch Schwartzman are playing together for the first time this week but both players are not strangers to the doubles format.

Isner is ranked a career-best No 22 in the world, having won 2 doubles titles in 2022 and eight overall in his career. Schwartzman is currently ranked No 307 but has been as high as No 39 in 2020 and still in search of his first title.

Isnerman will meet either third seeds Nikola Mektic/ Mate Pavic or Italian duo Simone Bolelli/ Fabio Fognini in Sunday’s final.
