Sebastian Korda closed in on a semi-final spot at the Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals as he got past Sebastian Baez 4-3, 4-2, 4-2.

But it was the Argentinian who started the better, taking a 3-1 lead before the American hit back.

“It was very tricky at the beginning,” Korda said afterwards. “I came out with the wrong tactic as he was loving the pace I was giving him. I adapted really well, changed my game up as I started to come to the net more and sliced more. That was a decision I made. I am really happy with the way I played.”

Korda is now on the brink of qualification for the final four, and will seal it this evening if Hugo Gaston beats Lorenzo Musetti in the day’s final match.
