World No 2 Casper Ruud will be back in Turin at the season-ending ATP Finals for the second year in a row, the ATP confirmed on Thursday.

The Norwegian, who reached the final of the French Open and US Open, is the third man to book his place in the eight-man event, joining Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

He secured his place by winning his second-round match in Seoul on Thursday.

“I just got the news that I qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin again this year and I’m so much looking forward to coming back to Italy,” Ruud said, quoted on the ATP Tour website. “I had such a great time last year, it’s a great country for tennis.”

Ruud reached the semi-finals in Turin last year and his tally of 47 wins is the third-best on Tour this year, behind only US Open champion Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

He has won three titles in 2022, in Buenos Aires, Geneva and Gstaad and reached his first Masters 1000 final in Miami, before going on to make his first slam final in Paris, where he was denied by Nadal, and a second in New York, where he lost out to Alcaraz.

The ATP Finals will be held in Turin from November 13-20.
