Marian Vajda, one of the most decorated coaches in the history of tennis, is no longer part of Novak Djokovic’s team. The two of them mutually agreed to split after last year’s ATP Finals in Turin.

The Slovakian coach was not with Djokovic at the start of the season, either in Melbourne or in Dubai, but during the Australian saga, he defended his player in a lengthy interview with aktuality.sk.

Goran Ivanisevic was added to the team during Wimbledon 2019, so since then Vajda has accompanied Djokovic to fewer tournaments than before. Vajda, who is turning 57 soon, said at the time that he wanted to spend more time with his family.

At this point nobody knows which tournaments Djokovic will be allowed to play because of his unvaccinated status, with the first two Masters 1000 tournaments of the season (Indian Wells and Miami) scheduled in the US.

The rest of Djokovic’s team stays the same – coach Ivanisevic, physiotherapists Ulises Badio and Miljan Amanovic, and fitness coach Marco Panichi.

Vajda has been an integral part of Novak Djokovic’s life for more than 15 years. They started working together before Roland Garros 2006 and, except for one brief break, have remained together ever since. Vajda has been a part of every single one of Djokovic’s 20 Grand Slam titles.

  1. Why call for Danil to be removed or suspended? Is he Putin’s keeper? Why not ban Shapovalov as well he is of Russian descent.
