Zverev gets win #301 by beating Auger-Aliassime to move into Vienna semi-finals

The German rolled into the final four of the Erste Bank Open by extending his fine record over the Canadian

Alexander Zverev got the 301st win of his career – and his 50th of the season – as he defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to move into the Erste Bank Open semi-finals.

Zverev had gone into the match leading the head-to-head 3-1 – but it was Auger-Aliassime who had the most recent victory, at Wimbledon in July. More than that, the German had hit 20 double faults during that defeat.

Now, though, since that loss he has won 23 matches, losing only twice.

Today, Zverev’s statistics on his own racquet were impressive – winning 80 per cent of points on his first serve.

The Canadian was seeking the biggest win of his career, having lost his previous seven matches against a man ranked in the world’s top five. He now extends that track record to 0-8.
