Goffin tests positive for COVID-19, out of St. Petersburg
- 07 Oct 2020
David Goffin is the most recent player to test positive for COVID-19.
The world No 13 announced via Instagram on Wednesday that the diagnosis will obviously force him out of the 250-point event in St. Petersburg, which is taking place next week. He hopes to be ready for the Antwerp event at home in Belgium one week later.
Goffin posted the news on social media with a “BAD NEWS!!” disclaimer.
“Due to a positive result at my last Covid-19 test made yesterday, I am forced to withdraw from Saint Petersburg,” he wrote. “I feel good up to now, I will quarantine and if everything goes well I will be back in Antwerp.”

Goffin lost in the first round of the French Open to Jannik Sinner, who eventually made it all the way to the quarter-finals before falling to 12-time champion Rafael Nadal.
