Roland-Garros: Jabeur through to third round

Ons Jabeur told the Tunisian fans in the stands that she will continue her efforts to win a Grand Slam for them.

And the No 7 seed looked solid as she advanced to the third round of Roland-Garros by beating Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin 6-2, 6-3 in Paris on Thursday.

Dodin has never yet won a second-round match at a Grand Slam – and Jabeur has still not lost at a major to a player outside the Top 100 since 2015.

However, she has lost to a player outside the Top 50 four times this year, most recently in Miami, when she fell to world No 54 Varvara Gracheva.

Jabeur, ranked No 7, will face Serb qualifier Olga Danilovic next.

The Tunisian won against Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-4, 6-1) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the French Open, Dodin, ranked No 122, won against wildcard Selena Janicijevic (0-6, 6-2, 6-1).
