A difficult 2020 for Lucas Pouille continues unabated, as the Frenchman announced that he has tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.

“Unfortunately I have just been tested positive for Covid-19,” Pouille wrote on Instagram. “I am going to put myself in isolation for a period of seven days. A new test will be done at the end of this period to see if I am still positive or not. The FFT medical service has been notified of the situation. So far, I’ve only developed loss of smell as a symptom.”

The 26-year-old world No 69 has faced many challenges in 2020. He cut his season short due to a right elbow surgery, which occurred in July in Paris. The former world No 10 has not played a single tour-level match in 2020.

On Saturday Pouille also announced that he had parted ways with his coach Amelie Mauresmo. The pair worked together for two years and Mauresmo helped guide Pouille to his best Grand Slam result, a semi-final at the 2019 Australian Open.
