Radu Albot enacts revenge over Holger Rune in Umag

Last week in Bastad, Holger Rune was able to beat Radu Albot in an impressive display. This time round in the 1st round of the Umag 250 the result was reversed as he lost 1-6, 6-3, 6-2

Despite the recent win over Albot in Bastad, 18-year-old Holger Rune was unable to repeat the result. In the first round of the Umag 250, the more experienced player came out on top 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. The young Danish player Rune impressed in the first set but eventually fell away against Moldovan Albot. Rune is World No 204 and in this match, the 13-year age gap and over 100 ranking places in between the players proved too much to overcome.

Tennis Majors

Just a week ago Albot suffered the defeat in Bastad (4-6, 6-3, 6-0), but this time round he was able to come back into the match after losing the first set. Rune, who entered the event with a wildcard, dominated the first set but the Danish native (1.88m) faded in the second and third to slip to the defeat.

By winning this match Albot set up a clash with the No.3 seed, Serbian Filip Krajivovic, a recent finalist in the Hamburg ATP 500 event.
