The Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever before.

The ground-breaking competition, first held in 2020, returns in 2023 with four events, including, for the first time, one to be held in the United States.

The league will begin in the USA on July 20-23 – the weekend after Wimbledon – will return to Europe in September and then will conclude with two events in Asia/the Middle East, at a venue to be confirmed in the coming weeks, the second of which will be the Grand Final.

2023 UTS SCHEDULE

  • July 20-23 / USA
  • September 14-17 / Europe
  • November 30 to December 3 / Asia – Middle East
  • December 7-10 / Grand Final /Asia – Middle East

Mouratoglou: The roster will be aggressive

The names of the players to be involved will be released in the coming weeks but UTS founder Patrick Mouratoglou said 2023 will be the biggest and best edition of UTS yet.

“Our first approach with UTS was to validate the proof of concept,” he said in a statement on the UTS website. “Then in 2022, we raised capital to run the events in front of a real crowd. In 2023, we are finally ready to provide a league of four events with a lot of novelties. I cannot give too much away, but the roster will be impressive. UTS will be a combination of true competition with a high dose of entertainment.”

Designed to engage a younger audience, the first four editions of the UTS have been broadcast in more than 100 countries, reaching 35 million households and yielding 1.7 million fans on social media.

As in previous editions, the UTS will include a range of innovations, including:

  • four quarters of eight minutes
  • a sudden death tiebreaker
  • one serve only
  • 15 seconds shot clock between the points
  • mid-match interviews
  • a loosened code of conduct
  • on-court coaching
  • bonus cards
  • an iconic lightning bolt trophy… and more.
