Bautista Agut, Sinner and Kvitova all win in Berlin


Roberto Bautista Agut, Jannik Sinner and Petra Kvitova all got off to winning starts in Berlin. Roberto Bautista Agut, Jannik Sinner, and Petra Kvitova all picked up wins at the Bett1 Aces exhibition in Berlin, Germany to begin the week. Bautista Agut began his campaign on the grass courts of Berlin with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 victory over Jan-Lennard Struff. The Spaniard dropped serve to open the match but recovered for two breaks of his own later in the first set. Struff responded by breaking for 4-2 in the second and consolidate his advantage the rest of the way. Momentum shifted again in the super-tiebreaker and it was Bautista Agut who emerged victorious. Bautista Agut is joined in the semifinals by Sinner, who held off 42-year-old Tommy Haas 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 on Monday. Haas, however, won an incredible point early in the second set during which both men produced successful tweeners. Sinner awaits Dominic Thiem, who has been in the news a lot throughout the coronavirus pandemic, in the semis. On the women's side, Kvitova advanced with a 6-4, 6-1 rout of Andrea Petkovic. Next up for Kvitova is Kiki Bertens, while the other semifinal pits Elina Svitolina against Anastasija Sevastova.
