Croatia's Borna Coric never faced a break point and hammered 12 aces as he battled past Spain's Feliciano Lopez on Tuesday at St. Petersburg, 6-3, 7-6(2), in first-round action. The seventh-seeded Croatian joins No.3-seeded Andrey Rublev, No.4-seeded Karen Khachanov and No.6-seeded Milos Raonic in the winner's circle at St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
Rublev, making his debut in the top 10 this week, sailed past Vasek Pospisil, 6-2, 6-4, while Raonic defeated American JJ Wolf, 7-6(5), 6-1.
Khachanov took down Aussie James Duckworth, 6-4, 6-4.
