Coco Gauff beat Ons Jabeur in straight sets to win her first WTA Tour-level match on clay in Rome.
Teenage phenom Coco Gauff has taken her talents to the clay.
The 16-year-old American claimed her first tour-level win on the surface on Tuesday at Rome, defeating Tunisia's Ons Jabeur, 6-4 6-3, to set up a second-round encounter with Garbiñe Muguruza.
"She's a tricky player because she definitely changes the ball a little bit," said Gauff after the victory. "I knew it was going to be tough, so to get a win over her on clay was really good."
