Rafael Nadal: Tennis has been the last thing on my mind

Nadal said that even though it's been seven months since his last match, he hasn't been thinking about tennis very much during his time off. Rafael Nadal is preparing for his first match since February at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome. And he admits that at times this spring and summer, tennis has been the furthest thing from his mind.  “It hasn’t been tough because we did not compete for six months, it has been tough because the world changed dramatically,” Nadal, who will face Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta in second-round action at Rome, said.
“A lot of people suffering, a lot of families lost somebody, and a lot of people are facing some economic problems as well - tennis, during a lot of months, has the last thing I was worried about.”
Still the Spaniard, a nine-time champion at the Foro Italico in Rome, is happy to be back on the clay and doing what he loves to do best.
“I’m super happy to be back, honestly. Tennis is an important part of my life and being back in one of the most important of the world, and in a tournament that I always had great feelings is special for me.”
