Sinner survives Tsitsipas comeback to progress to Rome


Italian wild card Jannik Sinner held off Stefanos Tsitsipas' comeback in Rome to record his second top-10 win Jannik Sinner turned the tables on Stefanos Tsitsipas, avenging a loss to the Greek last year at Rome with a 6-1, 6-7(9), 6-2 upset victory on Wednesday in Rome. It was Sinner’s second career Top 10 win, and his best by ranking.
“Obviously he’s a very experienced guy already on the ATP Tour,” the world No 81 said of Tsitsipas after the victory. “I played last year against him in Rome; this year the same. I just tried to play my game; move better than I did in the first round, which I did today.”
Tsitsipas, 19, moves on to face Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16.
