In the latest episode of The French Insider, UTS co-creator Patrick Mouratoglou gave host Jenny Drummond an exciting insight into what to expect from the newly-announced third edition of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.

UTS3 will take place before the European Open in Antwerp – and Mouratoglou revealed that he had been in touch with other tournaments, both ATP and WTA, about doing the same at their events as well.

‘Success’

“We hope it’s going to be a success and something we’ll be able to do much more in the future – UTS at the Mouratoglou Academy and UTS at tournament locations,” he said, adding that he is massively excited about the potential of the competition.

He said that the three-day format will feature fewer players but have all the same rules as the two previous editions, promising that all the matches will be available to view on television and via the UTS website and app.

‘New’

“It’s a new thing,” he said, suggesting that the future of UTS might be moving from tournament to tournament on a weekly basis rather than lengthier competitions over the course of a few weeks or months.

“The players who will play UTS will be players who will also compete in Antwerp,” he said – but remaining tantalisingly tight-lipped on who they will be.

The first instalments of UTS took place over the summer at the Mouratoglou Academy in the south of France, and featured players including Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini, with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova winning the first women’s competition.
