Tsitsipas sees off Garin to reach Hamburg final against Rublev
Stefanos Tsitsipas edged Cristian Garin in three tight sets to reach the final of the Hamburg European Open. Tsitsipas will go up against Andrey Rublev for the title on Sunday.
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Cristian Garin 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in the semifinals of the Hamburg European Open on Saturday evening. The second-seeded Greek prevailed after two hours and 15 minutes to set up a showdown in the title match against Andrey Rublev.
Tsitsipas struck 12 aces compared to only three double-faults.
Rublev advanced earlier in the day by beating a red-hot Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-2. The Russian finished runner-up to Nikoloz Basilashvili last year in Hamburg and now has a chance to go one step farther.
