Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia had a phenomenal grass-court season, winning titles at Nottingham and Birmingham, and racking up 12 victories on the trot at one point.
But it came to an abrupt halt on Monday at SW19.
Slovenian Kaja Juvan beat Brazilian Haddad Maia, the No 23 seed, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the second round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday evening.
Juvan, ranked No 62, will face the winner of the match between Australian qualifier Maddison Inglis and Hungarian Dalma Galfi next.
