‘I’m the last one left!’ Last Brit standing Norrie into quarter-finals, will face Goffin

No 9 seed Cameron Norrie beat American Tommy Paul, the No 30 seed, 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Sunday.
Norrie, ranked No 12, will play Belgian David Goffin next.
The British No 1 won just a few hours after the last British woman in the draw, Heather Watson, lost in straight sets to Jule Niemeier – and in his on-court interview afterwards, Norrie joked to the crowd: “I’m the last one left, why not get behind me now even more?”
Amidst laughter, he added: “From the first round everyone has been behind me, supporting me, and it’s definitely showed in some of the tougher situations in the matches, especially serving for the match there – I was going through a lot of different scenarios in my head, and I was able to stay calm enough to close it off.”
Ahead of his victory, Norrie won against Spaniard Pablo Andujar (6-0, 7-6 (3), 6-3), Spaniard Jaume Munar (6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2) and American Steve Johnson (6-4, 6-1, 6-0).
Paul, ranked No 32, defeated Spaniard Fernando Verdasco (6-1, 6-2, 7-6 (4)), Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (6-2, 6-4, 6-1) and Czech Jiri Vesely (6-3, 6-2, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
