WTA rankings report – 17-year-old Noskova into top-100, top-50 debut for Potapova

It was a brilliant week for the Czech women in Prague. Marie Bouzkova claimed the singles title and will return to the top-50 in Monday’s WTA rankings, but she wasn’t the only Czech turning heads.

17-year-old Linda Noskova, the 2021 Roland-Garros girls’ singles champion, reached her maiden WTA semi-final and charges up the rankings as a result. Well outside of the top-250 at the start of the season, Noskova has won two ITF titles and recorded 29 victories across all levels to take her perch inside the top-100.

Since Coco Gauff turned 18 earlier this year, Noskova is the only under-18 player currently residing in the top-100 of either tour. She jumps 18 spots from 112 to 94.

Potapova hits career-high

Russia’s Anastasia Potapova is another young talent on the rise. The 21-year-old played the final in Prague this week and will make her top-50 debut as a result. Potapova won her first title earlier this year at Istanbul, and she has reached at least the semi-finals of her last three events. She rises from 59 to 48.

Garcia flying high

The star of the week in Warsaw was France’s Caroline Garcia. The former World No 4 took out Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals for her first ever win over a reigning world No 1, then she took the title. Garcia rises 13 spots from 45 to 32 as a result of her thrilling run to her ninth career title.

Bouzkova continues to surge

And finally, we circle back to Prague, where Marie Bouzkova continues to play lights out tennis. After reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, Bouzkova took her fine form to her home soil, where she stormed to the title at the Livesport Prague Open.

She’ll jump 20 spots to No 46 as a result, matching her career-high from 2020.

Bogdan biggest riser

Ana Bogdan jumped 33 spots from 108 to 75 by reaching the final at Warsaw – that’s this week’s biggest jump inside the top-100.
