Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 15 seed, advanced to the last four of the Eastbourne International after Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko withdrew before the match on Thursday evening at Devonshire Park Lawn Club.

Haddad Maia, ranked No 29, will face Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 14 seed, next as she endeavours to win a 14th match in a row on grass.

The Brazilian defeated Estonian Kaia Kanepi (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) and wildcard Jodie Anna Burrage (6-1, 6-2) ahead of her victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Tsurenko, ranked No 114, won against Colombian Maria Camila Osorio Serrano (7-5, 7-6 (2)), Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 9 seed (1-6, 7-5, 6-3) and Pole Magda Linette (7-5, 3-6, 7-5).
