Argentinian Nadia Podoroska advanced to the last four of the Chennai Open by winning against Canadian wild card Eugenie Bouchard 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 on Friday.

Podoroska, ranked No 298, will face the winner of the match between Czech Linda Fruhvirtova and Russian Varvara Gracheva, the second seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the Argentinian beat Japanese qualifier Kyoka Okamura (6-4, 6-3) and edged out German Tatjana Maria, the No 4 seed (3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6)).

Bouchard defeated Swiss Joanne Zuger (7-6 (4), 6-2) and Indian wild card Karman Thandi (6-2, 7-6 (2)) earlier in the tournament – stringing together two consecutive wins for the first time since March 2021 as she continues her comeback from injury.
