Halep sets up semi-final against Andreescu in Bad Homburg

Halep and Andreescu have met only once before – with the Romanian winning their 2019 WTA Finals encounter in three sets

Fourth seed Simona Halep, of Romania, beat sixth seeded Amanda Anisimova 6-2, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals of the Bad Homburg Open on Thursday evening.

The former world No 1 who is currently ranked 19th in the world, Halep will next meet Canadian Bianca Andreescu next.

Andreescu scored the big upset of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 win over top seed Daria Kasatkina.

Halep has won the only meeting between the two players, which came at the 2019 WTA Finals.
