Lyon Open: Sherif moves into second round
Mayar Sherif benefited from the abandonment of Ana Konjuh (6-2, 3-2) on Monday and will face the winner of the match between Czech qualifier Linda Noskova and Spanish wildcard Garbine Muguruza in the next round

Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 6 seed, moved into the second round of the Lyon Open when Croat qualifier Ana Konjuh retired on Monday at the Palais des Sports de Gerland Lyon.
Sherif, ranked No 50, led 6-2, 3-2 when Konjuh, ranked No 142, pulled out on Monday at the Palais des Sports de Gerland Lyon.
The Egyptian will face the winner of the match between Czech qualifier Linda Noskova and Spanish wildcard Garbine Muguruza next.
