US Open champion Emma Raducanu will not be playing in next week’s Kremlin Cup.

The 18-year-old Briton said she was making a change to her plans and is still expected to compete in the Transylvania Open at the end of this month and then in Linz in early November.

“Unfortunately I’ve had to make a tournament schedule change and won’t be able to play Moscow this year but I hope to compete there and in front of the Russian fans next year,” Raducanu said in a statement given to British newspapers.

“I look forward to returning to the Tour in the next couple of weeks.”

Raducanu lost her first match after her US Open triumph, beaten in straight sets by Aliaskandra Sasnovich in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
