Slovenian Kaja Juvan reached the last 4 of the San Luis Potosi Open by edging out Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 8 seed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Friday evening.
Juvan, ranked No 143, will play the winner of the match between Italian Sara Errani, the No 7 seed, and German Tatjana Maria, the second seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Slovenian edged out Mexican wildcard Renata Zarazua (4-6, 7-5, 7-5) and won against Hungarian Dalma Galfi, the No 3 seed (6-3, 6-3).
Pigossi, ranked No 102, defeated Andrea Gamiz (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) and American Katrina Scott (6-3, 6-1) earlier in the tournament.
