Slovenian Kaja Juvan won against Hungarian Dalma Galfi, the No 3 seed, 6-3, 6-3 to move into the last 8 of the San Luis Potosi Open on Thursday night.
Juvan, ranked No 143, will play the winner of the match between Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 8 seed, and American Katrina Scott next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Slovenian edged out Mexican wildcard Renata Zarazua (4-6, 7-5, 7-5).
Galfi, ranked No 79, beat Mexican Fernanda Contreras Gomez (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
