Dominic Thiem insisted he wasn’t too disappointed with his defeat to John Millman on his return to action at the Serbia Open.
“Today was a day that didn’t go as planned, but it was still positive!” he wrote on Instagram.
“I didn’t start the match today with high expectations, but as always I gave everything I could. When I was on the court, I was very happy, to be honest. It was a challenge and it was a real match. And that’s what I’ve been aiming for over the past few months.
“We must learn from our failures and continue to give everything to achieve our personal goals. That’s exactly what I’m going to do and continue to pursue!
“At the moment, I am glad of my situation. I’m in good health, I can practice and participate on tour.”
It was the Austrian’s second match and second defeat after a nine-month absence from the tour due to injury.
