Iasi Open: Astakhova advances to the semi-finals

Russian qualifier Darya Astakhova defeated Argentinian Paula Ormaechea 6-4, 6-0 to move into the last four of the Iasi Open at Baza Sportivă Ciric in Iasi on Friday afternoon.
Astakhova, ranked No 256, will play the winner of the match between Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 3 seed, and Georgian Ekaterine Gorgodze, the No 8 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 20-year-old Russian won against Romanian Irina Bara, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-3) and Romanian qualifier Cristina Dinu (6-2, 6-2).
Ormaechea, ranked No 248, beat Romanian lucky loser Lavinia Tanasie (7-5, 6-3) and Japanese qualifier Yuki Naito (6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds.
