Winston-Salem Open: Mannarino advances to last eight

Adrian Mannarino won against Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday evening and will play the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Sonego, the No 14 seed, and American Maxime Cressy, the No 4 seed, in the next round

Frenchman Adrian Mannarino advanced to the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open by beating Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the No 8 seed, 6-3, 6-3 at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Wednesday evening.

Mannarino, ranked No 65, will play the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Sonego, the No 14 seed, and American Maxime Cressy, the No 4 seed, next.

The 34-year-old Frenchman edged out Australian qualifier Christopher O’Connell (7-6 (4), 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3)) and won against Finn Emil Ruusuvuori, the No 9 seed (6-4, 6-1) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Winston-Salem, Ramos-Vinolas, ranked No 42, defeated Australian John Millman (6-4, 6-4).
