US Open: Marino advances to third round, defeating first round hero Snigur
Rebecca Marino won against Daria Snigur 6-3, 7-6 (5) on Wednesday and will play Chinese Shuai Zhang in the next round
Canadian Rebecca Marino won against Ukrainian qualifier Daria Snigur 6-3, 7-6 (5) to advance to the third round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Wednesday.
Marino, ranked No 106, will play Chinese Shuai Zhang next. Zhang has just beaten Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (7-5, 6-1).
In the previous round of the Flushing Meadows, Snigur, ranked No 124, edged out Romanian Simona Halep, the No 7 seed (6-2, 0-6, 6-4), in what was the first major upset of the 2022 US Open.
