Top seed Djokovic sees off Pospisil to book semi-final spot in Tel Aviv

Top seed Novak Djokovic ended the run of lucky loser Vasek Pospisil 7-6 (5), 6-3 to move into the semi-finals of the Tel Aviv Open at Expo Tel Aviv on Friday afternoon.

Djokovic, ranked No 7, will play Russian Roman Safiullin next, as he chases the title in his first tournament since winning Wimbledon in July.

Djokovic forgets the score

After taking thr first set on the tiebreak, Djokovic got the break he needed but his biggest problem came when he forgot the score, sitting down at 5-3 instead of carrying on for an extra game.

The mistake was eventually pointed out to him by the umpire and he duly wrapped up victory in the following game.

Ahead of his victory, the 35-year-old Serb won against Spaniard Pablo Andujar (6-0, 6-3).

Pospisil, ranked No 149, edged out Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 8 seed (4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5) and defeated Israeli qualifier Edan Leshem (6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
