Cali Open: Ormaechea advances to final
Paula Ormaechea defeated Laura Pigossi 7-5, 6-3 on Saturday evening. She’ll play the winner of the match between Argentinian Nadia Podoroska and Colombian wildcard Emiliana Arango in the final
Argentinian Paula Ormaechea defeated Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the second seed, 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Cali Open at the Club Campestre de Cali on Saturday evening.
Ormaechea, ranked No 206, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Nadia Podoroska and Colombian wildcard Emiliana Arango next.
The Argentinian won against Pole Weronika Falkowska (5-7, 6-0, 6-1), Spaniard Aliona Bolsova, the No 3 seed (7-6 (4), 6-3) and American Elvina Kalieva (7-5, 3-6, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Cali tournament, Pigossi, ranked No 110, won against Gabriela Ce (6-1, 6-1), Cypriot Raluka Serban (6-2, 6-3) and Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).
