Linz Open: Potapova advances to semi-finals

Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 8 seed, defeated German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals of the Linz Open at the Design Center Linz on Friday.
Potapova, ranked No 44, will play Czech Marketa Vondrousova next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 21-year-old Russian edged out Italian Lucia Bronzetti (2-6, 6-3, 6-4) and won against German Jule Niemeier (7-5, 3-6, 6-3).
Friedsam, ranked No 124, won against Italian qualifier Sara Errani (6-2, 6-4) and Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 4 seed (6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Linz tournament.
