ALERT : Swiatek wins the Qatar Open
Iga Swiatek lifted the trophy on Saturday evening against Jessica Pegula.
Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, won the Qatar Open trophy by defeating American Jessica Pegula, the second seed, 6-3, 6-0 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Saturday evening.
Earlier in the tournament, Swiatek, ranked No 1, beat American Danielle Collins (6-0, 6-1), Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 7 seed (W/O) and Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 8 seed (6-0, 6-1).
Pegula, ranked No 4, defeated Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (6-2, 2-6, 7-5), Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia (6-3, 6-2) and Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 5 seed (6-2, 4-6, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the Doha Open.
