Madrid Open: Masarova upends Vekic to reach third round

Spanish wildcard Rebeka Masarova won against Croat Donna Vekic, the No 20 seed, 6-1, 7-6 (5) to move into the third round of the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Thursday.
Masarova, ranked No 74, will play Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Spaniard edged out Cristina Bucsa (6-3, 5-7, 6-4).
