American wildcard Sloane Stephens beat lucky loser Freya Christie 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Saint-Malo Open at the Parc des sports de Marville on Thursday.
Stephens, ranked No 48, will play the winner of the match between Jessika Ponchet and Diane Parry next.
In the previous round of the Saint-Malo tournament, the American won against French qualifier Emeline Dartron (6-1, 6-1).
Christie, ranked No 459, defeated Katie Swan (2-6, 7-5, 6-3) in the 32 of the Saint-Malo tournament.
