Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Rome Masters by winning against Serb Laslo Djere 6-1, 6-3 at the Foro Italico on Tuesday.
Ruud, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 24 seed, and Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 8 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Norwegian defeated Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (6-4, 6-0) and edged out Kazakh Alexander Bublik (6-1, 4-6, 7-6).
Djere, ranked No 62, won against Frenchman Constant Lestienne (6-1 ret.), Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 23 seed (6-2, 6-4) and Chilean Cristian Garin (6-3, 2-1 ret.) in the previous rounds of the Italian Open.
