Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 4 seed, edged out Australian Christopher O’Connell 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the last four of the Geneva Open at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Thursday afternoon.
Dimitrov, ranked No 33, will face American Taylor Fritz, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Geneva tournament, the Bulgarian won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-1, 6-4).
O’Connell, ranked No 85, beat Croat qualifier Nino Serdarusic (7-6 (5), 6-7 (1), 6-1) and Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles, the No 7 seed (6-0, 3-0 ret.) in the previous rounds of the Geneva tournament.
