Roland-Garros: 16-year-old Andreeva beats local hope Parry to reach third round
The Russian qualifier will face the winner of the match between Austrian Julia Grabher and American Coco Gauff, the No 6 seed, in the next round

Russian qualifier Mirra Andreeva defeated French wildcard Diane Parry 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the third round of Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday afternoon.
Andreeva, aged just 16 and already ranked No 143, will play the winner of the match between Austrian Julia Grabher and American Coco Gauff, the No 6 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the 16-year-old Russian beat American Alison Riske-Amritraj (6-2, 6-1). Speaking on court after her win, Andreeva said she probably thought she would be playing the juniors here in Paris after reaching the Australian Open junior singles final.

Parry, ranked No 79, defeated Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 25 seed (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the French Open.
