Halle: Bublik moves into last four as Sinner retires through injury

Kazakh Alexander Bublik advanced to the last four of Halle when Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 4 seed, retired at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Friday.
Bublik, ranked No 48, led 7-5, 2-0 when Sinner, ranked No 9, pulled out at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Friday.
It will raise huge questions around how fit the Italian is likely to be ahead of Wimbledon, which begins on Monday 3rd July.
The Kazakh will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the No 9 seed, and Chilean Nicolas Jarry next.
Bublik, also known as “the Bublik Enemy”, will feature at UTS in Los Angeles next month.
In the previous rounds of the Halle Open, Alexander Bublik won against Croat Borna Coric, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-1) and German Jan-Lennard Struff (6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3).
The 21-year-old Italian beat Frenchman Richard Gasquet (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) and edged out Lorenzo Sonego (6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
