Eastbourne International: Kasatkina moves into semi-finals after Garcia retirement

Russian Daria Kasatkina reached the semi-finals of the Eastbourne International when Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the second seed, retired on Thursday evening at Devonshire Park Lawn Club.
Kasatkina, ranked No 11, led 6-2, 2-1 when Garcia, ranked No 5, pulled out on Thursday evening at Devonshire Park Lawn Club.
The Russian will play the winner of the match between Latvian Jelena Ostapenko and Italian Camila Giorgi next.
Daria Kasatkina won against Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina (6-3, 6-1) and Karolina Pliskova (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Eastbourne tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, the Frenchwoman defeated American qualifier Madison Brengle (6-1, 7-5) and Romanian qualifier Ana Bogdan (6-3, 6-4).
