Bad Homburg Open: Siniakova wins her first grass-court title

Katerina Siniakova defeated Italian Lucia Bronzetti 6-2, 7-6 (5) to win the Bad Homburg Open final at Bod Hombourg vor der Höhe on Saturday.

In the previous rounds of the Bad Hombourg tournament, Siniakova, ranked No 52, beat Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-4), Russian Evgeniya Rodina (6-2, 6-4), Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the second seed (7-5, 4-6, 6-2) and American Emma Navarro (6-2, 6-2).

Bronzetti, ranked No 65, beat Austrian Julia Grabher (6-4, 6-1), Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 4 seed (1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3), Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-3) and Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed (W/O) earlier in the tournament.
