Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 8 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Grand Est Open by edging out French wildcard Amandine Hesse 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7) at Tennis Club de Contrexéville in Contréxeville on Monday evening.
Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 119, will face the winner of the match between Slovenian qualifier Dalila Jakupovic and Spanish lucky loser Rosa Vicens Mas next.
