Liam Broady has prevailed in a tight opening tussle against Frenchman Corentin Moutet at the Citi Open in Washington on Monday evening.
Despite spraying five more errors than his opponent, Broady won the first round encounter 7-6 (0), 6-4 at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center. For Broady, this is the fourth consecutive time he’s made the second round or better in ATP tournaments; for world No 80 Moutet, it’s a third loss in a row.
Broady, ranked No 125, will play No 12 seed Tallon Griekspoor next, who had a bye in his opening round.
